New Year's resolutions

There are many different opinions on making New Year's resolution. Some think it's stupid to just start changing your life by a date, instead of trying to improve your life every single day. They also think that these goals don't last very long. But there are also the ones, who think it's a great opportunity to start changing something in your life and see it as a new kick-off and are very motivated by it.
I can understand both sides. I think that trying to improve your life and becoming happier shouldn't wait for a specific time, it should start every single day. But I also think why not combine these two things, why  not use the start of the new year as an extra motivation. So I thought I'd be sharing some of my resolutions or I better should say goals, as I want to reach them all time of the year. Writing it down hopefully also helps me to continue being motivated and I can come easily  back and look at my goals and collect new energy and focus on what I really want to achieve. As we can be dragged easily into the daily life and all the stress we often tend to forget the important things.

1. Doing sport regularly (I guess it's everyone's goal)

I'm a person, who has some weeks, where I'm doing sport four to five times a week and I' m really motivated. But then I get sick or don't have much time and I totally lose my routine. I hate this feeling and I really want to change it. I want to do sport regularly, as it doesn't only help to be in shape, but furthermore is very important for my back, as I have scoliosis and I need to build up muscles. As I very often set my goals to high I hope this time I will find a good balance and don't put too much pressure on me, because else I get very frustrated.

2. Meditation

I really want to start meditating. I already started last year with the app called 'headspace', but when I had no time anymore or rather I didn't make up the time I stopped and again got frustrated, as I didn't reach my goal. Meditation is meant to help becoming calmer, being less stressed and I just want to try out if it works for me, too. I just find it hard to find motivation, because nowadays you just aren't used to do nothing. It's really difficult to let your mind just wander and not feeling like you could be doing something more productive. I feel like you have to learn how to just do nothing and not feeling bad about it.

3. Environmental protection

Being conscious of the environment is something I always found very important. I used to be in an organisation and I enjoyed thinking about how we can protect the planet and to get to know about the problems in the world and what we can do to help other people.
Ever since I stopped being in that organisation I wanted to continue doing something against climate change and just to inform myself about how we can improve the situation. I never really found a way of actively doing something in the last two years, but this year I want to do more again, as it's a topic, which is really important to me. Even if it's just talking to friends about these matters, I definitely want to do more this year.

These things are the most important goals to me, of course I also want to take more time to read books and to meet friends, but I always keep this in the back of my mind.

I also think a good way of setting goals, is setting yourself weekly goals, so you don't get lost in these big longterms goals. So I definitely consider doing this, too.

I'm excited to see if I actually achieve these things and I wish everyone a lot of power and motivation for their new year's resolutions.
